STOP THE SHOTS
Across the United States, over 19,223 people lost their lives due to gun violence in 2020. That’s almost a 25% increase from the year prior. We are taking a stance to fight against this plague nationwide to ensure this doesn’t continue.
We can not allow one more person to be killed by senseless gun violence. We can not allow one more person to feel the pain of losing a loved one. We can not allow one more family to wait for a call or a text that never comes. We cannot allow the desensitization of gun violence to continue. We must create a safe and compassionate place for all of us. Gun violence is not normal and will never be.
Every day in America, more than 300 lives are affected by the deadly epidemic of gun violence. Among young people (1-17), gun violence has become a top cause of death, second only to drug overdoses. It has many root causes, including hate, poverty, and mental illness. it’s amplified by the societal belief that a gun can solve our problems. Gun violence is destroying our generation and will destroy generations to come if we do not act today. This is simply unacceptable. That’s why,as members of the inner city communities of America we march for a better tomorrow, we believe it’s time for a cease fire for every community affected for a Safer America.
We appreciate your support of the movement and our ongoing fight to end State-sanctioned violence, liberate Black people, and end white supremacy forever.
